For some time now I’ve been threatening to update the multimedia book Reflections of Venice–Art and Beauty in the Water on iBooks and also produce a version of the book which could be viewed and enjoyed by those who do not have a Mac or an iPad or have access to the iBooks Store.
Well, all this and more is finally happening and I’m happy to make some announcements here.
Updates to Reflections of Venice–Art and Beauty in the Water
First of all, many of you very kindly reviewed the original version of Reflections of Venice on iBooks and gave me valuable feedback.
As a result of this I have made some changes:
- I have added sound and/or music to all the videos that were in the book already.
- Several new videos have been added (by popular demand).
- Based on a number of suggestions, I have added a SHOP to davidcphillips.com and e-commerce so that you can now buy prints on luster archival paper, on canvas or on metal in addition to downloadable versions of Reflections of Venice and also Gift Cards. I particularly love the prints on metal.
- Small but important corrections to the text and usability of the book.
Here is the new Intro Media video for the book. Sound has been added including a beautiful guitar piece by Venice’s own Vivaldi. I highly recommend you watch it full screen with your sound turned up!
To sum it all up
- The new version of Reflections of Venice–Art and Beauty in the Water is now available on iBooks. If you already have downloaded the book from the iBooks Store, you can simply log in to iBooks on your Mac or iPad, go to Updates and download the new version. No charge. No fuss. I hope you will do so, view/listen to the changes and let me know what you think.
- I have created a free shorter version of the book (Reflections of Venice–Introduction) for everyone. There is an iBooks version, a rich media PDF and an EPUB version. You can view the PDF version on a PC but if you want to see the videos you must use Adobe Acrobat Reader, a free download if you don’t already have it. The EPUB version works on PCs and tablets using an eBook Reader such as Kobo (free). I haven’t tested it on every combination of devices and readers but you should be able to get the full experience with either the PDF and Adobe Acrobat or the EPUB and an ePub Reader. You can view the PDF version on a Kindle but it will not show or play the videos. I have included links to Vimeo for the videos in case you don’t have a way to view them live in the book.
- If you would like to download Reflections of Venice Introduction free, you can do so here (all you need to do is sign up for my mailing list – If you are already on the list I will send you the download link shortly by email). You can download the iBooks version to your Mac or iPad or the PDF or EPUB version to your Windows PC or tablet or Android Tablet. Remember, you must view the PDF version in Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Reader or you will not be able to see the videos. You can get Adobe Acrobat Reader here.
- You can buy the full iBooks version of the book on iBooks ($3.99 or local equivalent) If you have a Mac or iPad I urge you to do so!
- You can buy the full PDF or EPUB version here, on my website, in my shop ($3.50). If you don’t have a Mac or iPad, I urge you to buy the full PDF or EPUB eBook.
- You can see what prints are available in my new, online shop here. In fact you can order any image in the book Reflections of Venice or anywhere else on my website through my shop, on archival luster paper, canvas gallery wrap or metal.
- If you would like to find out more about the book, there is a full page on it here with reviews and excerpts.
I intend to start posting on the blog once a week or as close to it as I can manage. If you are on the mailing list you’ll get a short email from me when a new post is available. I hope you will read the blog and leave a comment, share it if you feel the urge.
If you find the emails are coming too frequently, let me know and I’ll make sure you don’t get more than you want.
I am always keen to hear from you. You can contact me any time with questions or feedback.
